I am your Presenter Gary T. Carn

I grew up in Lismore, NSW, where my love affair with radio began. As a young boy, I'd stay up late listening to AM and shortwave broadcasts, captivated by the voices and sounds traveling from distant stations across Australia and beyond. For a kid in a small town, radio was my passport to the wider world—a way to explore what was possible beyond the familiar.

That early fascination led me to community radio in 1982, when I joined 2NCR-FM. After completing a basic course at TAFE and spending time in various studios, I eventually found myself producing and presenting programs on air. Those were the analogue days—a different era altogether.

The 1990s brought what some might call "the realities of life." I needed to find steady employment, so I worked as a cleaner, a mechanic, and took on various other jobs. But radio was never far from my thoughts. After all, it was my first love.

Now, 43 years later, I've decided the time is right to challenge myself once again—this time in the digital age. In 2026, that journey has brought me to Noosa FM, where I'm learning from dedicated people who truly understand what radio can contribute to a community.

My path continues to evolve, and I'm excited to see where it leads.
