Classic Rock Class with Craig Madden

)))))))))))))) Classic Rock Class ((((((((((((((

For those who take their music WAY TOO SERIOUSLY!!!

"For those who have a deep passion for music, "Classic Rock Class" was a concept that struck me in an instant. It all began one evening when our trainer challenged us to brainstorm ideas for a community radio program - to think of a title, a concept, and an introduction on the spot. The thought of a rock show immediately resonated with me since rock music is a significant part of my life (haha).

I recalled the movie 'School of Rock' starring Jack Black, and a friend even jokingly compared me to the character in the film, given my intense enthusiasm for rock music. I had to watch it myself, and while Jack Black is undoubtedly more talented than me, his portrayal of someone utterly obsessed with music, particularly rock music, hit close to home.

"Classic Rock Class" is loosely based on this premise. While we take our content seriously, we also inject humor into it by poking fun at how music aficionados, especially those passionate about classic rock, can become engrossed in heated debates about their favorite artists and bands. Our show includes segments inspired by classroom subjects, delivered in a lighthearted manner. For instance, "History Lesson 101" sets the tone by discussing significant moments in rock history, while "Geog 101 - Bands from around the World" allows us to explore lesser-known rock acts from various corners of the globe.

One thing we've learned about lovers of classic rock is that they love to argue — who's the best, who's the worst, who's better than who, and so on. "Classic Rock Class" aims to playfully satirize this aspect of the culture while also imparting knowledge. I, as the presenter, don't claim to be the ultimate expert; in fact, the more we delve into the subject, the more we realize how much there is to learn. So, I spend hours researching each week to enhance the program's content, presenting it in a humorous way. You'll often hear me exclaim, in typical rock lover fashion, "He's the best" or "She's the best," only to change my tune the very next week. Such enthusiasm is a hallmark of those who adore this genre and might just need a touch of psychiatric assistance.

Our program focuses on music from what we believe to be the classic rock era, roughly spanning from 1965 to 1975. However, we acknowledge that the definition of classic rock is open to debate, as new music is constantly being created that could potentially join the ranks of classic rock in the future. So, we venture into the years beyond 1975, ensuring our program is extremely diverse. We might play "Go All the Way" by The Raspberries or "Happy Together" by The Turtles from 1967 one moment and "Kingdom" by the Devin Townsend Project from 2000 a few minutes later. These songs may be worlds apart, but they all come together to entertain our diverse audience.

That's "Classic Rock Class"
Ohhh TURN IT UUUUUP!!!!!
